We might think about our mental state as just being our thoughts or state of mind but it’s not as simple as that. The mental state of a person includes perception, pain experience, beliefs, emotions, memory, desire and intention, to name a few.
May is mental health awareness month. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is encouraging all of us to spend some time talking about stress and how it effects us, particularly as we adapt to the new normal of a post-Covid world.
If we dwell on the past and remain unhappy in our present, we are making a decision to stay stuck. Seligman now suggests that there may be an override button in our brains. One that can turn off our self-imposed cycle of misery
