Today is a day when I feel like things are out of control.
I’m overwhelmed.
I know exactly when this is happening.
I get butterflies in my stomach, tense muscles, swirling thoughts, a headache (or brain ache as I like to call it), and often I have a fear of impending doom.

Where does your mind go when someone asks you to contemplate “What if?” I’m guessing you went to “what if I had taken that job?”, “What if I hadn’t left my partner?” or some other similar past decisions. As humans we often turn to the past, unpacking our regrets, large and small, turning them over and over, going down the rabbit hole reliving our past choices, grieving, being stuck in the past, and having a challenge with moving on.

As humans in the 21st century, we are regularly bombarded with millions of bits of information that are biological, sensory, cognitive, or emotional in nature. Our brain is pretty good at parsing out those few pieces of information that are of particular value to us. It first looks to ensure our bodies are safe.

It seems like an oxymoron; being invisible to become more visible.
In a culture where FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) runs rampant and digital marketing seems to be teaching that more is better … more emails, more posts, focusing on pain points more … it might seem risky and illogical to take a “less is more” approach to visibility.

The great kindness in these times, I believe, is to just listen to each. When we don’t listen we create isolation. If we push our opinions on others it creates distance; people move away.

Labour Day weekend provides a reflection on the positive changes, learnings and growth throughout the summer months of July and August. Labour Day initiates a reset. This holiday in early September brings a change of weather and an opportunity to reassess our direction for the fall and consider the completion of projects for this calendar year.
